Caring for your RUCINI in Malaysia's climate
KL humidity, monsoon showers, air-conditioned offices — our climate is hard on accessories. Premium vegan leather is more forgiving than genuine leather, but a little care will keep your bag or shoes looking new for years.
Everyday cleaning
- Wipe the exterior weekly with a soft, dry microfiber cloth.
- For marks, use a slightly damp cloth with a drop of mild soap. Blot, don't rub.
- Never use alcohol, acetone, nail polish remover, or abrasive sponges — they strip the finish.
Storage
- Store in the RUCINI dust bag inside a cool, ventilated cupboard.
- Add a silica gel sachet to fight humidity and prevent mildew.
- Stuff bags loosely with acid-free paper or bubble wrap to hold their shape — avoid newspaper (ink transfers).
- Never store in a plastic bag long-term; the material needs to breathe.
Caught in the rain
- Blot dry immediately with a clean, absorbent towel.
- Air-dry at room temperature, away from direct sunlight, fans, or hair dryers — heat cracks the finish.
- Once dry, wipe with a soft cloth to restore the surface.
Shoes
- Rotate between two or three pairs to let each fully dry between wears.
- Use shoe trees or crumpled paper to hold shape overnight.
- Clean soles with a slightly damp cloth; avoid soaking leather uppers.
What we don't recommend
- Leather conditioners or oils formulated for real leather — they can discolour vegan finishes.
- Machine washing, even for shoes.
- Ironing or steaming to remove creases.
